Houses a 25-yard indoor swimming pool, wading pool, fitness room with weight and cardiovascular machines, meeting room, tanning deck. Use is by membership. Daily open swim periods offered for non-members.

Headquarters for programs, meetings and activities for senior adults (ages 55 and older). Houses two small banquet rooms which convert to one large room with an adjacent kitchen, sitting area with television and VCR, and activity room featuring exercise equipment, billiards table and table tennis.

Bobby Andrews Recreation Center

Houses a game room and gymnasium. When not reserved for organized sports, gym is available for basketball free-play. Adults, 18 and older, pay a fee of $1 per adult.

Parks & Playgrounds

Havens Garden Park
Located on the Pamlico River on Park Drive, just before the Runyon Creek Bridge
Park hours year-round are sunrise to sunset.
Restroom facilities hours are as follows:
March-April & September-October 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. (weather permitting);
May-August — 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; November-February — closed.
Two covered picnic shelters, playground equipment, fishing pier and open grass areas for volleyball, tag football and other activities.  For a small charge, groups may reserve picnic shelters. No fees are charged to Beaufort County school groups. Make reservations at the Recreation Main Office, 310 W. Main St., (252) 975-9367 ext 221.

Stewart Parkway & Waterfront Docks
Pamlico River on Washington's Downtown waterfront.
Recently renovated, area now features 36 boat slips with water, electricity and sewer pump-out. Additional dockage for visiting boaters. Floating dock for canoe launch. Waterfront brick promenade connects with elevated, lighted boardwalk through a wetland area east of the North Carolina Estuarium.  The waterfront is popular with walkers.

7th Street Playground and Park
Sixth Street behind the Bobby Andrews Center
Playground equipment, picnic tables, and small open grills for picnicking. Enter the parking lot from Fifth Street/John Small Ave. Restroom facilities are available inside the recreation center when open. Large shade trees and nearby basketball courts make this a popular area.

Bug House Park
Park Drive at Charlotte Street
Playground equipment and the Jones-Modlin Tennis Complex.

Beebe Park
Bridge and Eleventh streets across from the Bridge Street Center
Large open space with shade trees

Pierce/Third Street Mini-Park

Tommy Stewart Memorial Courts
John Small Avenue at Fifth Street
Two full-size courts and four half courts available for outdoor basketball. Area is lighted for night-time play.

Washington Off-Leash Dog Park
601 East 4th Street
Park is completely fenced in and has segregated areas for dogs 20 lbs. and under and medium/large dogs.  Amenities include over ½ acres of land, water areas, poop stations, benches for owners, shade trees.  For more information and a list of the rules, click here.

Boat Launch Areas

City Boat Dock
Runyon Creek at East Main and Park Drive
As part of the Havens Gardens complex, the City offers free boat-docking facilities on Runyon Creek off of Park Drive. The facility features two boat ramps, docks, parking for cars and trailers, and a covered picnic shelter.

Mason's Landing
Tranters Creek on Clark's Neck Road
Boat launching also is available at Tranters Creek from Mason's Landing on Clark's Neck Road. This handicapped accessible facility had two ramps, docks, and parking. The Recreation Department is developing canoe trails starting from this location.

School/City Tennis Complex (Joint use)
Washington High School, 400 Slatestone Road
Six lighted hard-surfaced courts. The public may use the courts from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends, holidays, and school vacation days. On school days, courts are open to the public in the evening.

Ballparks

Susiegray McConnell Sports Complex.
Airport Road and Market Street.
Soccer fields, lighted youth softball and baseball fields, concessions area, restroom facilities, playground, picnic tables, walking trails, archery range, and aquatic & fitness center. This facility has been made possible by a $1 million gift in memory of Susiegray Moore McConnell, a native of Washington, by her husband John P. McConnell of Raleigh, plus additional public funds.

Kugler Field
Hudnell Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets
Home of Washington High School football and baseball for 60 years. Now used for football, baseball, and adult softball tournaments. Lighted for night play and includes restrooms, concession stands and bleachers.

Todd Maxwell Complex (City-owned)
End of West Third St.
Tommy Warren Jr. Memorial Field for 9-10 year old baseball, John Smith Memorial Field for 11-12 year old baseball, a concession stand and restrooms.

John Cotten Tayloe Elementary School (Joint Use with schools)
Tarboro St. and to the south of the school entrance.
Dick Jones Field is used for the Girls Softball Leagues. Both of the areas above are used for football and soccer.

Eastern Elementary School (Joint use with schools)
Corner of Hudnell St. and Pennsylvania Ave.
Optimist Club Soccer games and Community Football League practices

Skatepark

PCM Skate Park

This new, 8,000 square feet concrete skatepark is located next to the Bobby Andrews Recreation Center on Seventh Street and is named in memory of Patrick Harris Cochran. For more info go to the PCM Skatepark website.
